New zBoost Survey Reveals more than 70 Percent of Consumers Experience Cell Phone Signal Issues
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) April 1, 2008 -- According to the zBoost "On the Go" survey, commissioned in March 2008 by Wi-Ex and conducted by Harris Interactive®, 72 percent of cell phone owners have experienced service problems such as dropped calls (45 percent), poor signal reception at home (36 percent) or dead zones at work (34 percent ). Showcased today at CTIA (Booth 4507), Wi-Ex, the leading provider of consumer cell phone signal boosters, provides consumers with a suite of products designed to enhance cell phone signals at home, in the office or on the go.

Additional findings of the zBoost "On the Go" Survey included:
86 percent of cell phone owners have experienced poor reception or dead zones outside of their home. Of those who have experienced poor cell phone reception or dead zones outside of their home:
* 65 percent have experienced it in a rural/sparsely populated area
* 48 percent in an underground area such as a tunnel or subway
* 41 percent in an office building
* 38 percent in a car
* 19 percent in a hotel room
70 percent of cell phone owners who make cell phone calls at home have experienced missed/dropped calls
60 percent of cell phone owners who make cell phone calls at home have done something special to improve signal reception including:
* 45 percent have gone outside
* 43 percent have stood by a window
* 29 percent have used their landline instead
* 29 percent have remained in one room
25 percent of cell phone owners who also have a landline would be at least somewhat likely to eliminate their landline if they had better cell phone signal reception at home

About the zBoost "On the Go" Survey
This survey was conducted online by Harris Interactive on behalf of WiEx between March 14 and March 18, 2008 among 2,387 U.S. adults 18 years of age or older, of whom, 2,114 own a cell phone. Sample size for other subgroups is smaller and varies.
Results were weighted as needed on the basis of region, age within gender, education, household income, and race/ethnicity. Propensity score weighting was also used to adjust for respondents' propensity to be online.
All sample surveys and polls, whether or not they use probability sampling, are subject to multiple sources of error which are most often not possible to quantify or estimate, including sampling error, coverage error, error associated with nonresponse, error associated with question wording and response options, and post-survey weighting and adjustments. Therefore, Harris Interactive avoids the words "margin of error" as they are misleading. All that can be calculated are different possible sampling errors with different probabilities for pure, unweighted, random samples with 100% response rates. These are only theoretical because no published polls come close to this ideal.
Respondents for this survey were selected from among those who have agreed to participate in Harris Interactive surveys. The data have been weighted to reflect the composition of the U.S. adult population. Because the sample is based on those who agreed to be invited to participate in the Harris Interactive online research panel, no estimates of theoretical sampling error can be calculated.
